We are a brand for those of us that want nothing more than to wear a cardigan every day of the year with every outfit—whether it’s snowing or the sun is shining.
In the forefront of our closet we have our favorite sweater that always seems to make us feel relaxed and secure. It’s pilling and unraveling with a couple holes but we can’t seem to let it go. Our superior quality ensures that your Gilet sweater will last from years to come. Our styling is simple yet elegant in details.
Each piece consists of two different content combinations. Merino wool raised ethically + Thermolite technical yarn or organic cotton + Thermolite. The cotton we use is made without pesticides and toxic dyes that destroy the environment and the health of farmers.
All of our knits are constructed with such high standards that we guarantee the quality after washing and wearing for one year. If you’re not satisfied with our garment after a year will we replace it with a new sweater for 50% off the retail price. We simply ask that you show proof of donation.
We want our sweaters to stay as a staple in your closet for years to come. Fast fashion is destroying the world. Cheap clothes, marked down within weeks of hitting the stores have become one of the biggest problems with the fashion industry. We want these pieces to “spark joy” when you put them on. We want you to wear them to work, wear them on the couch while netflixing, wear them to the store. We want to provide you with options that allow for dressier and more loungy options. Though around 80% of our collection are cardigans, we also throw in a few pullovers.
After graduating from ESMOD, Fashion School in Paris, I moved back to the US (New York) to work. I spent nearly two decades designing sweaters and knits for billion dollar brands before moving back to Europe to live. Frustrated with the lack of great sweaters to wear I decided to open my own brand. Gilet says it all—Cardigan. We’re here for those of use that just love cardigans.
During my years working for the fashion industry in New York I learned all the technical details needed to create knits using techniques that only experience provides and I want to share that with you. I know what I want to wear, I know what my friends want to wear.
In 2018 I decided to leave the fashion industry—feeling as if I wasn’t contributing to the world, so here I am. I am here working for you, working for the Cotton Farmers, working for the environment, working for the sheep and working for myself.
I want you to love what I do as much as I do,
Ryan
